From your best to most challenging moments, Jake delivers communications strategies to achieve your goals.
Jake is a veteran public relations expert with nearly 20 years of experience both as a strategic planner for proactive campaigns and as a solutions-focused counselor thoroughly versed in addressing issues and crises. He brings a well-practiced understanding of how communications can elevate and protect an organization’s reputation and advance its goals, whether that’s generating awareness about mission or outcomes, creating momentum behind a specific need or initiative, or navigating emerging issues.
An unyielding optimist with a commitment to building strong relationships, Jake’s career experiences have put him in the shoes our clients walk in every day as he provides thoughtful media relations and public relations counsel to nonprofits and government organizations, professional associations, and private companies. From working directly with reporters and coordinating thoughtful internal communications to preparing employees at all levels to effectively connect with funders, boards, regulators or other stakeholders, he brings those experiences forward in his trusted counsel to clients.
Jake’s work has often placed him in high-paced, high-visibility settings. He’s led teams that supported consumer brand partners in making the most of their activations on national platforms like MLB’s Home Run Derby or PGA TOUR events. He also guided strategic communications as part of the Gopher Athletics team at the University of Minnesota prior to leading the U’s central public relations team. In arenas of all varieties – athletics, nonprofit, government, higher education and more – Jake has supported partners in celebrating their greatest achievements and overcoming their most significant challenges.
Jake loves playing and watching sports with his wife and two kids, and can often be found on the golf course, court, rink or field, or sitting in the stands cheering on one of the hometown teams. He also enjoys spending time relaxing outdoors and supporting local breweries.
