Quick action by hospital staff saves Bloomington man’s life

An ordinary drive home is now a pivotal moment in the life of Patrick Ouellet. Patrick started to feel chest pains and decided to drive to St. Francis Regional Medical Center. His car went over the curb and crashed next to the building by the emergency room and he went into full cardiac arrest. Thanks to the quick action of emergency room, staff were able to treat him immediately and Patrick was back home less than two weeks after the incident with no damage to his vital organs.

Watch this KARE11 segment to learn more about Patrick’s story.

Saints 26 for 26

We kicked off summer with the St. Paul Saints and the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce – two great institutions celebrating 26 seasons and 150 years, respectively. Thank you to everyone who joined us for a fun afternoon at CHS Field to watch the St. Paul Saints win on Opening Day!

Legislative session adjourns and campaigns heat up

The 2017-2018 legislative biennium officially adjourned on May 20. Despite the Legislature and Governor Dayton finding agreement on more than 200 pieces of legislation throughout the past two years, the 2018 session will undoubtedly be remembered for everything that did not get done.

Governor Dayton vetoed two major bills just days after adjournment: a 990-page supplemental spending bill that included provisions for nearly every committee; and a tax reform bill that included significant federal conformity measures. The session was not all for naught, though: This week, Governor Dayton signed the bonding bill - authorizing nearly $1.5 billion in borrowing for infrastructure projects - and the public pensions bill into law.

The close of the legislative session means campaign season ignites. In Minnesota, all statewide constitutional offices, all eight U.S. Congress seats, both U.S. Senate seats, and all Minnesota House members will be on the ballot in November.
