Goff Public, a top-ranked, full-service communications agency based in Saint Paul, seeks a motivated self-starter with a strong writing background to join our firm as a writing specialist.

About the position

This position will be responsible for writing a variety of materials to support the firm’s multiple client teams. No day is typical, but some of what this job will entail includes:

  • Writing a variety of communications materials, such as proposals, press releases, fact sheets, blog posts, newsletter stories, website content, op-eds and key messages
  • Researching, writing, editing and proofreading materials
  • Interviewing people and analyzing data to gather stories
  • Managing deadlines and working within account teams to contribute ideas and execute tasks

Strong candidates may exhibit some or all of the following traits and skillsets:

  • Excellent and proven storyteller
  • Stellar writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Skilled at writing for a variety of communications channels and ability to learn new styles, formats and voices
  • Ability to communicate effectively and simply about complex subject matter
  • Experience with AP Style, plain language and accessibility
  • Creative thinking to write in ways that connect with diverse audiences and points of view
  • Strong interpersonal skills – collaborative, confident, friendly and poised
  • Ability to multitask, lead and support projects simultaneously and meet deadlines daily
  • Proactive, hardworking and detail-oriented
  • Ethical, honest and good personal judgment
  • Fast learner
  • Ability to thrive in a fluid and collaborative environment

Ideal candidates should have 1-3 years of experience in print/digital journalism, grant or proposal writing, or in a writing role within the public relations and communications industry. Individuals with other professional writing experience not mentioned are also encouraged to apply.
