Minnesota Oncology offers hope to patients with melanoma

The largest independent oncology practice in the state, Minnesota Oncology, is participating in a study for a new, exciting treatment option for melanoma patients. The treatment includes injecting patients with a virus (the one commonly responsible for cold sores), which shrinks melanoma tumors and triggers the immune system to fight off the cancer cells. Melanoma is the deadliest form of skin cancer. In Minnesota, the number of melanoma cases have doubled in the last few decades.

Donated pipe provides hands-on learning for Central Lakes College students

Koch Pipeline Company, L.P. donated approximately one-third of a mile of steel pipe to the Heavy Equipment Operations & Maintenance program at Central Lakes College. Students will use the pipe to build a simulated right-of-way and practice hands-on pipeline construction and maintenance. This practice will provide them with firsthand experience for their careers. Goff Public publicized the donation and developed a video capturing the steel pipe’s 150-mile trek from the Twin Cities to Staples, Minnesota.

Ramsey County rebranding effort receives Northern Lights Award

Congratulations to Ramsey County on receiving a Northern Lights Award from the Minnesota Association of Government Communicators for its rebranding efforts.

In her role as interim communications director for the county last year, Senior Account Executive Sara Thatcher led an interdepartmental team of communications staff to develop a new logo for the county and its 27 departments, customizable templates for collateral materials, a comprehensive set of brand guidelines, and an online repository for branded materials. A critical component of the rebranding effort was to train staff people at all levels on the importance of branding and how to implement the new brand consistently across the county. The new brand was launched in December 2014.
