Well-respected in Minnesota’s state government spaces, John-Paul Yates brings diverse experience to Goff’s lobbying team
ST. PAUL, Minn. – Nov. 16, 2022 – Longtime Republican strategist John-Paul (JP) Yates will join Goff Public, an independent St. Paul-based public relations and public affairs firm. As a director, Yates will be a senior member of the firm’s public affairs team, managing legislative affairs, lobbying and advocacy on behalf of Goff Public’s diverse roster of clients.
“JP brings a wonderful balance of state and federal policy experience along with strong bipartisan relationships built on his reputation as a smart, straightforward strategist,” said Elizabeth Emerson, vice president of public affairs at Goff Public. “He will be a tremendous asset to our team and clients.”
Yates has nearly 15 years of government, campaign and lobbying experience from early roles with former U.S. Rep. Erik Paulsen to directing public policy for the TwinWest Chamber of Commerce. Most recently, Yates worked for the Minnesota Senate Republican Caucus as committee administrator for the Human Services Reform Finance and Policy Committee.
“I’ve seen the Goff Public team in action in and outside the Capitol in my various roles over the years,” Yates said. “I believe my relationships and experience have prepared me well to join this talented team.”
Yates is an alum of the University of Minnesota’s Hubert H. Humphrey School of Public Affairs’ Policy Fellows program and holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Seton Hall University in South Orange, New Jersey. He will begin his new role on Nov. 28.
