Goff Comms Cohort

Our pro bono training program covers effective storytelling, media relations, crisis communications and advocacy.

Applications are now open for the 2025 Goff Comms Cohort!

A nonprofit communications training program

As part of Goff Public’s ongoing commitment to support nonprofit organizations doing meaningful work in our communities, we offer an annual training program for nonprofit leaders. The Goff Comms Cohort is for Minnesota-based nonprofits and advocacy organizations who could use our help amplifying and supporting their efforts. A cohort of 20 nonprofit leaders is selected each year to participate in a series of three training sessions.

The program provides an opportunity to learn about advocacy and communications from the experts at Goff, while networking with peers. Leaders learn how to develop effective messaging, identify strong, media-ready stories, be a confident spokesperson, and advance civic and policy goals.

Who should apply?

This training program is tailored for leadership-level nonprofit professionals that could serve as their organization’s spokesperson or influence its communications or policy platforms. It is open to people in the greater Twin Cities metro area and beyond but will be conducted in person at Goff Public’s offices in downtown Saint Paul. Content is best suited for executive directors or executive leadership roles related to communications or advocacy. Our goal is to help nonprofits build capacity that they wouldn’t otherwise have access to.

“I recommend this training for any executive leader to deepen their comfort and skills in public policy, storytelling, public relations and external communications. Goff offered an intentional cohort-based experience, provided frameworks for decision making, and application of core principles into nonprofit settings. I now feel resourced to move my organization’s mission forward in a more strategic and skillful way!”
