Get to know Team Goff: Nate Kass

| July 20, 2022

Our Director of Digital and Creative Nate Kass joined Goff Public last year to expand and enhance our offerings, bringing with him a knack for emerging technologies and creative direction. In this month’s Team Goff Q&A, Nate shares what led him to work in digital communications, insights on the most popular ice cream flavors and reveals his inner gamer.

What is a memorable project that you have worked on for a client?

We recently partnered with Bremer Bank and Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity to create a video that announced an extension of their Home Loan Impact Fund. Working with two great organizations that are making homeownership a reality for Twin Cities families was a heartwarming experience, and I am so proud of the final video.

What led you to work in digital communications?
After graduating college with a degree in public relations, I began writing product descriptions for the website of a home shopping network. It was an eye-opening experience that exposed me to the digital world, and I was hooked. I’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to work in all facets of the digital ecosystem – from social media and paid digital campaigns to email and websites.

What was the first job you ever had?

My first job was scooping ice cream at the Bridgeman’s in Richfield. Back in my ice cream scooping days, the most popular flavors were butter pecan and Mackinac Island fudge!

What are you looking forward to this summer?Goff Public's Nate Kass poses with two others on the Lake Superior shore

I am headed up north to a cabin near Two Harbors later this summer. There’s electricity and plumbing, but everything else is pretty basic – no TV and spotty cell reception. For as much as I love my screen time, I’m looking forward to taking some time to disconnect and be present.

What are you reading, watching or listening to these days?

I am a gamer who has been exploring the Lands Between as a tarnished warrior in Elden Ring, a role-playing video game. I’ve spent at least 50 hours playing it, and I am proud to have conquered three of the shardbearer bosses in my quest to become the Elden Lord.

What trivia category do you always crush it in?

History. I’m not super passionate about it, but my dad was a history buff, so I think I soaked it in going to museums and historic sites growing up.

What’s one thing you can’t live without?

I cannot sleep at night without a fan.
