Minnesota is among the leaders in giving to American Indian causes

Recent analysis from the Colorado-based nonprofit First Nations Development Institute shows Minnesota is home to six of the 30 foundations most generous to Native American causes. Between 2006 and 2014, Minnesota-based organizations gave $118.5 million to Indian Country. The Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community is among the most prominent givers with $18 million in gifts to Native American causes last year.
