Compensation bill goes national

Goff Public is providing pro-bono assistance to the Minnesota Innocence Project to help pass a bill that would compensate Minnesotans who were wrongfully convicted and imprisoned for crimes they did not commit. News coverage of the proposed bill is becoming more widespread as it gains momentum at the Capitol. For example, bill co-author Rep. John Lesch was recently interviewed on MSNBC to discuss why it’s important that Minnesota join the majority of states that already have compensation statutes in place.

Condoleezza Rice inspires Judson University crowd

We helped Judson University in Illinois gain significant media attention for its signature annual event, the World Leaders Forum. The event has drawn big-name speakers including George W. Bush, Tony Blair, and Mikhail Gorbachev. This year’s speaker, Condoleezza Rice, inspired a sold-out crowd of more than 600 people with a speech on global leadership and human achievement.

 

Goff team plays role in launch of MOA expansion

When Mall of America announced its $325 million expansion last month, Goff Public was there to help the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community (SMSC) explain its role in the project. Hotel Development LLC, an SMSC enterprise, will own the new JW Marriott Hotel being built as part of the expansion. We assisted with planning, media requests, and other logistics that helped ensure a successful announcement. The event received widespread media coverage, including this Star Tribune article.

 

Goff Public’s media team participates in Leadership Saint Paul media day

In March Goff Public’s Sara Thatcher organized the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce Leadership Saint Paul’s  media and communications day. Sara secured prominent speakers and assembled a panel of top Twin Cities media executives, including the executive editors and news directors of the Pioneer Press, MinnPost, KSTP, and Minnesota Public Radio. Jennifer Hellman and Chris Duffy also provided media training to the 50 participants in the chamber’s leadership program.

 

When pictures speak louder than words

Catholic Charities and its partners are seeking funding for the Dorothy Day Center ReVision, a plan to create a more dignified and effective way to serve the homeless. Over the past month, we filmed and produced a video demonstrating the differences between the deteriorating Dorothy Day Center in Saint Paul and the successful Higher Ground building in Minneapolis, which is the model for the ReVision project.

Developing an award-winning speech

We are excited to have worked with U. S. Steel on an award-winning speech. Delivered to the Economic Club of Minnesota last year, the speech recently won the top award in the “Executive Communications – Speeches” category from the Public Relations Society of America, Pittsburgh chapter.
